The standard coats for these dragons cover the head, neck, and tail in varying degrees. Sometimes a mane or ridge of fur can also grow along the back of the reepuls. The face usually remains hairless, along with a majority of the body and feet.

Flat coats, also sometimes known as long coats have a more hair-like quality to their fur coverings. It lays flat much like a horse's mane and flat coats generally grow longer than the normal fur. However coat coverage remains very similar to that of the standards.

It is mostly mountain reepuls, or those living in cooler climates that sport these thicker coats. Thick coats are also a popular coat type for the Toy variety of the species. This coat type covers the majority of the dragon leaving only very little of the skin and softer flesh visible.

Short coats are more rare in reepuls. These dragons usually only have a very light dusting of fur covering their bodies. With less fur, these reepuls are prone to getting cold and usually only thrive in warmer climates.
